Streetcar meeting thisTuesday

I'm pretty sure most of the blog readers have heard that Mayor Vincent Gray and Terry Bellamy, the director of the department of transportation will be holding a briefing on the streetcar progress this Tuesday. This may be a big issue meeting since DCStreetcars was even handing out fliers house to house in the neighborhood.

So consider this your third (or fourth) reminder:

Tuesday, December 6th
7pm
Atlas Theater (1333 H St NE)

A very well done comprehensive review of the meeting can be found here.

off topic:

I just saw that there is a proposal to remove Rosedale/ Kingman Park from the first police district.

Has this happened? I learned about it here: https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=1KnG8rEHAAw2J-TPF2P1ssJK-lIARTsVEf6Vdvx29U-5nq5bN0GiPjgvHtk6m&hl=en_US

Hey Tom,
I actually added the information about the PSA change on the blog in June. http://rosedalecitizen.blogspot.com/2011/06/why-are-police-boundaries-changing.html

however I didn't use the PSA tag and forgot all about it myself. The Kingman Park ANC has been doing a great job staying on top of it and I think i now have enough information to post an update. It seems to be something that is considered every ten years.

I just researched some more.

The change is official as of January 1st, and we've been moved in the area with Carver Langson. :-(

I wonder if they've started already, because ever cop I've seen recently drives like an idiot and I haven't seen a cop walking in the neighborhood since I moved back to town last month.

We have to remember that the police are employeed by the people of DC, not the other way around.

Ironically, I don't think most of my neighbors would be comfortable walking to a PSA meeting in Carver Langston.

Personally I don't mind cause I feel like we as a community need to find out what is going on on that side of Benning Road since it seems more crime is trickling south. Crime doesn't respect boundaries. But yeah, I hope the middle ground meeting spot is Langston Bar and Grille. I literally just posted some more info but I'm sure it's stuff you already know.
