At its Sept. 10 meeting, the commission:
• unanimously voted to support naming Rosedale Field [part of the new Rosedale Community Center grounds] in honor of Mamie “Peanut” Johnson. Johnson was one of only three female Negro League players and played at Rosedale Field. Johnson has lived in the neighborhood most of her life.
• voted to table a letter to the District Department of Transportation supporting the elimination of one lane of traffic and heavy trucks on C Street NE. Commissioner Nick Alberti said he thought it might be premature to support the elimination of a lane before an official traffic study has been completed.
