New Charter School
A new charter school appears to be opening this school year at the recently closed St. Benedict Elementary school building @ 330 21st Street, NE. The Thea Bowman Preparatory Academy PCS is currently enrolling only 5th & 6th graders and plans to add 7th & 8th grades in 2009 & 2010 respectively.

It's potentially a great resource for the community given DCPS's continuing failure- but I hear through the grapevine that they are DESPERATE for kids right now since school starts in a week, and they are very under-enrolled!
