FOUR Day Of Service Events in Rosedale/Kingman Park:

President -Elect Barack Obama has called for a National Day of Service on January 19th. There are a number of Day of Service events in Rosedale and Kingman Park, many starting at various times so you can attend more than one!

1. Day of Service: 9am – 11am

Community clean up in the 500 block of 25th place

2. D Street Community Clean Up: 10am – 12pm.

Meet at the Triangle Park at 21st and Oklahoma Ave NE to clean up D working Towards 15th Street.

3. Kingman/Heritage Island Clean up: 10am-2pm

4. American Forest Foundation National Day of Service: 12pm -1pm

On Monday, January 19, 2009, to commemorate this event and to honor Dr. King's memory, you are invited to join Mayor Adrian M. Fenty and Serve DC, the Mayor's Office on Volunteerism, in partnership with Operation Gratitude and thousands of volunteers from across the country in assembling care packages for our military.

"A Day of Service for Our Military" will provide the opportunity for you to show your support to those who serve our country. Sign up now to volunteer for a shift, lasting approximately one hour, to assemble care packages. Care package assembly will take place inside a heated tent on the field of the historic Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in Washington, DC.

TRANSPORTATION: Use of the Metro is strongly encouraged. Parking around the stadium will not be available.
