Cleaning Up the Streets
On Saturday, July 22nd, RCA organized a clean-up of four blocks surrounding the intersection of 18th and D streets. More than 20 people helped over the course of the morning-- picking up trash, raking away debris, and mowing greenspace. We even caught a contractor from Maryland illegally dumping refuse in one of our alleys, and had him ticketed for $1500! Officer Donald Dukes of the MPD and Justin Ingea of the Department of Public Works assisted us from the District, and Parks Economy Market provided free beverages. Volunteers also included two candidates to replace Sharon Ambrose on the DC Council, Leo Pinson and Will Cobb. At the end of the morning, some of the volunteers posed for a photo.
