Rosedale Library Children Programs for February!

The Rosedale Library has lots of children's programming this month:  including those in honor of Black History Month and in celebration of Valentine's Day and President's Day.  There are programs honoring author Mo Williams, Family Story Times, the February edition of the "Reel Reading Children's Book Club" and more.

One extra special event is this Monday, at 10:30 a.m., when the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) will bring their orchestral instruments for children and their parents to see and touch.  This hands-on fun with the instruments that NSO members play during their concerts is a project of the Women's Committee for the National Symphony Orchestra.

Other programs this month include:

Monday, February 10 at 4pm --- More Mo Please!
A special occasion for our young Mo Willems fans!  We’ll celebrate Mo Willems’ birthday by reading the books and doing activities featuring Elephant and Piggie, Pigeon, Cat the Cat and all that!

Tuesday, February 11 at 4:30 p.m. --- Valentine’s Movies and Crafts
Children can watch the short films "One Zillion Valentines" and "Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown"  and then make Valentine’s Day card crafts for friends and family.

Tuesday, February 19th at 4:30 p.m. --- The Presidents’ Games — Fun and Games Night!
Presidential- and Washington DC-themed group games, board games and challenges.
Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. --- Family Story Time
Stories, songs and poems for families with children ages 7 and under.  The Saturday Family Story Times are held every 4th Saturday of every month.

Sunday, February 23 at 2pm --- A Mo Willems Sunday
In a weekend celebration of Mo Willems' birthday, children can enjoy a special Mo Willems story time and four short films about his books,  including "Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" and "Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale"!

Tuesday, February 25 at 4:30 p.m. -- Reel Reading Book Club
Every child can become a book and movie critic by joining Rosedale's "Reel Reading Book Club" Each month Club members read a book at the start of the month, then turn into mini movie critics on the last Tuesday of that month by viewing and reviewing a movie based on or inspired by the book.  February's book/movie combo is "How to Train Your Dragon" by Cresidda Cowell.  Ask at the Front Desk for how to join the Club.

Weekly Story Times - Book readings, finger puppets, rhymes and more every Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m.
