This a reminder that the historic tour of the Rosedale neighborhood is tomorrow, Saturday, October 26th.
The tour starts at 10 a.m. at the Rosedale Library (1701 Gales Street NE) and will run for about 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
Rosedale is roughly bounded by 15th and 19th Streets, between
Benning Road and C Street NE. The tour will focus on the oldest parts
of the neighborhood, including Gales, Kramer and Rosedale Streets. The
buildings in the neighborhood represent a wide range of architectural
styles, such as 19th Century wood-frame victorian duplexes, and the
brick townhouses of the 1920s and will highlight buildings
designed/constructed by notable Washington builders and architects..
The tour will include examples of various bricks/bricklaying
techniques; roof and porch types; and inlaid and 'pressed' design
elements on facades, as well as a history of the Rosedale
neighborhood....many people don't know that it joined DC long after the
original city was laid out!
