DC trolley car barn angers Kingman Park Residents

The above article from the Root DC blog affiliated with the Washington Post outlines the displeasure Kingman Park residents feel about the area possibly becoming more industrial with projects like the trolley barn right off of Benning Road NE. Comments posted on various blogs in response to the story vary from charges of NIMBY-ism to anger about the trolley project ever being started.

"I understand the concerns of the residents of Kingman Park. The trolley system is the play thing of the new urbanists and transportation planners who enjoy spending 1.5 billion of our tax money on their toys. Of course they do not live near the trolley barn or the transmission stations. If either were proposed for a different neighborhood like maybe Eastern Masrket, you can bet provisions would be made to move them to another location." comment on the Roots blog

"Honestly, we live in a city. It's loud. Hell, with the people that gather outside of my house every day, all day and all night, I never, and I mean never get any peace and quiet. At least the streetcar will be beneficial to the neighborhood.
I get the whole "industrial dumping ground" complaint. However, they are not looking at the big picture. Hopefully the streetcar will begin to encourage non-industrial businesses to spread up Benning. " comment on the Frozen Tropics blog.

"well, they might not build a nice one, but "ex-trolley barn" buildings in DC are considered to be significant community assets:

Is it the size of the trolley barn that has neighbors upset? The architectural design? Or the threat that Benning Road will not become a Main Street/Great Street like H St or even Barracks Row with projects like the trolley barn and Tire shop?

Disclaimer: The RCA as a group has not supported OR supported the current plan for the trolley barn. Hopefully more information can be gathered to do what's best for this project, the neighborhood and the city, where everyone feels that the gained something. Let's not throw anyone "under the trolley."

Real estate developers Dan and Ben Miller ~~own~~ the building at 1351 H St NE. In December they hosted an event to showcase the raw empty space and more or less asked "what would you like to see in this space?" Ideas have been turned in and voting is well underway. You can vote now (or even submit your own idea) here. The Popularise website is actually an interesting concept where businesses owners, residents and innovators can exchange opinions and information on what they want (and what is feasible).

The lieutenant for the Police Service Area (PSA) 507 will be meeting with Friends of Kingman Park Civic Association this Thursday the 19th at the Langston Golf Course Club House at 7pm. Once again, this is the new police service area for Rosedale, Kingman Park and Langston Park and helps the police allocate the proper amount of resources to each district and sub-district.

Regularly scheduled PSA meetings will be wrapped up into Citizen Advisory Council meetings which are the 4th Thursday of the month. Hopefully, a confirmation of the address and time will come shortly.

One Door Closes and Another One Opens

Roadside Cafe is officially closed. The Jamaican style quick food service spot had ambitious plans which unfortunately did not materialize. Best of luck to the owners on their next venture. DC Soundstage has been open for the last month (I believe) at 2403 Benning Road NE and seems like a fun casual space. It's getting cold outside but hopefully we can make time to support businesses that support the positive development of our neighborhood.

Taxi driver injured in carjacking in D.C.

A taxi driver was injured Tuesday night during a carjacking of his taxi in Northeast Washington DC, police said.

The carjacking occurred in the Popeye’s 2300 block of Benning Road about 10 p.m., said Officer Hugh Carew, a police spokesman. The driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, but it was not immediately clear how he was injured.

Police issued a lookout for the vehicle, a black and yellow taxi. It was found abandoned in the 400 block of 23rd Place NE about 15 minutes after the initial incident, Carew said.

No arrests had been made late Tuesday, and police released no information about suspect.

Streetcar Workshop

H Street - Benning Road Streetcar Line Workshop

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is hosting a workshop on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 to seek public input on the proposed interim connection to Union Station and the various architectural elements that are under consideration for the operations base and maintenance facility that is planned for 26th Street and Benning Road, NE. DDOT will also share details about the overhead wire installation, and supporting poles, and the substations along the line.

New Police Service Area changes begin Jan 1st

In June a letter was sent out saying police districts would change and was posted on the blog. http://rosedalecitizen.blogspot.com/2011/06/why-are-police-boundaries-changing.html

The changes will become official at the start of the new year and the overall information about the changes can be found here.

To summarize, the changes to the police service areas are to even out the work/crime load among groups of officers and to better utilize police resources. This does not change what wards we live in, or parking zones. We may see new officers on the streets and different lieutenants.

Kingman Park, Rosedale and the Carver Lansgton neighborhoods will now be served by the same crew of police officers. On the dc.gov community calendar no meeting date or location had been posted yet for the new PSA 507 in the month of January and when that information is received, the blog will be updated.

Keep in mind: Now with less daylight and holiday mischief please be careful having packages delivered to your house and placed on the porch. Also, on December 4th Elaine Coleman was killed, no suspect has been identified. More info here.

From reading comments in terms of house purchasing, people want to compare Rosedale-Kingman Park to Trinidad in regards to amenities.

Unfortunately this holiday weekend has been marred with violence, with shootings taking place all over DC including this neighborhood as well. The RCA tries to celebrate the good and the progress made in the community however at times horrible things happens and those events can't be ignored. Since a member of the community died it seems right to acknowledge that death especially since it is being talked about. Being Thankful for the Neighborhood

There are many things to be thankful for in the Rosedale-Kingman Park community and here are a list of a few, in no particular order.

Langston Bar and Grille

One of the flagship businesses on west-of-the-river Benning Road.

The X2 and the D6.

What would the neighborhood have been like if the Oklahoma Ave Station would have been built? Who knows. What would it be like when the trolley is operational? We will see. But for now if you really need to get somewhere you know the X2 is coming. The buses on that strip run almost so regularly you don't even need a schedule. The D6 is probably the most drama-free routes that passes through Ward 6.

Anacostia Park (Section F)

Tai Chi, dog run, flying kites, frisbee, it's big enough for all of that and more. This open space is a hidden gem.

Proximity to H St/Atlas District

Parking is tight and being able to walk to nightlife and weekend activities is a value indeed.

All the upcoming businesses on Benning Road.

From what I have heard from neighbors, the new Aldi grocery store off of 17th St (north of Benning Road) is now open. Supposedly they are giving away free samples. Aldi is open till 8pm tonight. Enjoy!

Rosedale Real Estate

The Rosedale real estate market has been featured in the past in the Washington Post as an "up and coming" area and a neighborhood where you can can get good bang for your housing buck. Now, a recent rehab project is being featured on the Prince of Petworth blog under the Good Deal or Not subtitle, where individuals are encouraged to weigh in on if they think the property is worth the price. The house was going for over 500k when it was first listed and the price has been dropped. An interesting twist includes that a bike is being offered with the deal, which is definitely something you don't see at the closing table often. This is a great way to see what is being offered in the neighborhood without peeping through your neighbors windows. The Redfin link to the property is here.

Community Clean Up

Join residents of Rosedale and HandsOn Greater DC Cares for a neighborhood cleanup on Saturday, November 12 from 10am-1pm. The cleanup will begin in front of Miner Elementary School (601 15th St St NE). We will then work our way around 15th, 16th and 17th Sts NE, picking up trash and talking to neighbors we encounter about the work HandsOn Greater DC Cares is doing in the area and areas for growth. Trash grabbers, trash bags, gloves and HandsOn Greater DC Cares t-shirts will be provided.

The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans' organizations and remarks from dignitaries.

The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Lisa White, ANC Commissioner for Kingman Park attended the 1st District PSA meeting where police officers share the local crime statistics and trends. At the meeting, crime statistics have shown an uptick in robberies which is obviously a concern. Those in attendance were reminded to be aware of their surroundings, limit phone conversations while walking and be aware of their surroundings.
Also, neighbors have recently noticed packages being stolen from their porches. It may be best to have things delivered to your office or instructions for fed-ex/ups/whomever to leave a package with a neighbor.

Police encourage citizens to report suspicious and concerning activity to 911.

Early Stages

Recently, Robin Choi from the DC Public Schools spoke to the RCA about Early Stages, a program that helps parents have their young children evaluated for any delays (whether it be walking, talking, learning or behavioral) and if necessary help them take action so their children can have a strong start in school. This service is free to all families who live in the district regardless if they plan on using DC public, charter or private schools. Children can be assessed as young as 2 years and 9 months and as old as 5 years and 10 months.

Art Ventures on H this Thursday

"On June 17, CHAMPS - Capitol Hill’s Chamber of Commerce presents ARTventures on H. From 5-8:00pm, eleven different galleries and art spaces along the H Street Corridor will open their doors to the Capitol Hill community for a special neighborhood art walk. Mark your calendars and begin brainstorming. There will be a chance to meet with council-member Michael Brown on what projects would serve the community in the forms of jobs and business ventures. It isn't clear if Councilmember Brown only wants to talk specifically about development at the above named places or in DC as a whole. SCORE Friday’s

Students Capable of Reading Excellent, a program established by RCA Member & Vice President Ms. Hannah Lewis scored excellent review for community partnership with Rosedale Youth.

The purpose of SCORE Friday’s is to increase reading comprehension and fluency; vocabulary building, improve writing skills and to encourage reading for pleasure.

With the assistance of a Community Grant certificate from community partner, Greater DC Cares, SCORE Friday’s was able to complete a very success program. Housed at the Gibbs Elementary School, shuttered site for the Rosedale Recreation Center, community youth met every other Friday with anticipation and ready hearts. During the program children were able to reach the aforementioned goals by reading, writing, playing games and friendly competitions. The Grant enabled Ms. Lewis, program coordinator to purchase paper supplies, books, writing material and food for participants.

There were approximately 15 children who receive Certificates of Recognition, which made for a great end to the 2011 school year. There was a close out Pizza Party and the kids promised to continue SCORING and striving for excellence.

Great Job Hannah, SCORE Friday’s is indeed a successful addition to the Community.

Answer: For the purpose of delivering police services, the District of Columbia is divided
into seven police districts, each of which is subdivided into five or more Police Service Areas, or PSAs. Although certain resources such as personnel and vehicles can be deployed to match workload, other resources, such as the police district commander, facilities, parking spaces, and radio bandwidth, are fixed and cannot be easily altered to meet changing demands. Therefore, to ensure the best and most efficient delivery of police services, MPD must periodically assess the distribution of workload between the police districts. The last major
realignment of police boundaries was done in 2004.

Rosedale Tigers: Strong, Proud and Successful!

The Rosedale Tigers Cheerleaders will be having tryouts on Wednesday, June 15 and Wednesday, June 22 at the Gibbs Elementary School (500 19th St NE) from 6:00-8:00pm. Ages 4-18 are encouraged to attend and be placed in either the Whiskers, Cubs, Prowl, Pounce, Roar, Pride and Tiger's Den group.

This is a championship winning program with a long history of success. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

There is a very good chance that part of Rosedale will be moved into Ward 7 while another section will stay in Ward 6. The finishing touches of the proposal will be in place before mid-July so there is only a few weeks to influence the minds of the councilmembers with individual emails and phone calls. With this information, one of the questions posed at the RCA meeting was "where to go from here as a citizens' group and as individual residents?" As an organization the RCA will continue to spread the word about the redistricting and will reach out to councilmembers in the form of a questionnaire to see what guidance they have on how a community should come together on neighborhood issues when it straddles two wards. Examples of questions proposed so far are: What will happen to the Rosedale Recreation Center and Library construction? Where would new Ward 7 residents vote? Who will our ANC commissioners be? If there are any questions you would like to see on this councilmember redistricting questionnaire please comment or send via email.

Parking Amendment for Kingman Park Neighbors

As of right now no amendment has been presented for Kingman Park residents to have dual residential zone parking (Wards 6/7). This was extended to Rosedale and Hill East neighbors but unfortunately Kingman Park has been left out again. Commisioner White has drafted a great form letter for Kingman Park neighbors to sign and send to councillmembers to address this problem.

Laura Trieschmann, from EHT Traceries, will talk about the history of Washington’s streetcars, including its car barns. We will see a film showing Washington’s streetcars in operation during the 1950s, and Monte Edwards and Meg Maguire will answer questions about historic streetcars. Please come and enjoy the evening, and, if you rode the old streetcars, share your experiences with the gathering.

Only a few days left before redistricting becomes a reality

The rally to keep Ward Six together showed why this is such a great ward to live in. The passion, the enthusiasm, civic mindedness and the hopefulness was on full display.

More work needs to be done and we need to lean on Jack Evans and Phil Mendleson. "They will get over it" That is the notion some councilmembers have about our strong resistance to not being lumped with Ward 7.

Call them at 724-8058 (Jack Evans) and 724-8064 (Phil Mendleson)to let them know you will remember and believe there are better options.

The Rally started at Lincoln Park and residents marched along East Capitol St chanting "Ward 6 Works", and "One Hill One Vote."

Lisa White representing Kingman Park was there to let others know that redistricting does impact neighborhoods (sometimes negatively) and why Kingman Park needs to be back in ward six.

Rally to keep Capitol Hill (and Rosedale) together

Obviously, we know that Rosedale is not Capitol Hill but if rumors are true that the boundaries of Ward 7 would be moved t0 17th st then Rosedale would straddle two wards. How awkward and inconvenient would that be!?

The information posted below was taken from H Street Great Street blog:

As you may have heard, DC is in the midst of the redistricting of its Ward lines and recent reports suggest that the 3 member Redistricting Subcommittee is prepared to recommend lopping of the eastern parts of Ward 6 and adding them to Ward 7, which needs to increase in size due to its reduced size in the recent census. The latest report is that 17th Street will become the arbitrary dividing line splitting the area on the east side of the street from the rest of Capitol Hill and Ward 6. Among other things, using this dividing line would place Eastern High School ("the Pride of Capitol Hill") outside Ward 6, which is the Ward that encompasses Capitol Hill. If you agree that this plan makes little sense, you may be interested in attending a rally in Lincoln Park on Tuesday evening or contacting the Coucilmembers who serve on the redistricting subcommittee whose info is listed in the below announcement.

Every 10 years, the District must redraw ward boundary lines in an effort to maintain a roughly equivalent population in each ward. According to the 2010 Census results, Wards 7 and 8 must add population, while Ward 2 needs to reduce population. But while Wards 5 and 6 aren’t required to move increase or decrease their population, both wards border the three wards that need to grow and shrink. The result? The boundaries of Wards 5 and 6 likely need to be changed so that Wards 2, 7 and 8 meet the legal requirements.

To help ensure that Ward 6 residents are able to have their voice heard, the Ward 6 Democrats have invited the three co-chairs of the Council’s Special Committee, as well as Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells, to attend a public meeting on the District’s redistricting plan for the Ward. We’ll share detailed Census data and maps, and facilitate a discussion about the community’s reaction to any proposed changes to the ward’s boundaries.

What’s the overall Re-Districting timeline?

The Council has created a Special Committee on Redistricting to develop and propose a new ward map. The Special Committee is co-chaired by Councilmembers Phil Mendelson, Michael A. Brown, and Jack Evans. Below is a timeline of their scheduled work:

Monday, April 25, 2011 - Public hearing to receive public comments and recommendations
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 - Public hearing to receive public comments and recommendations
Mid-to-Late May 2011 - Special Committee will propose and vote on a new ward boundary map and then hold a public hearing to review and hear feedback from constituents
Tuesday, June 7, 2011 - Council will hold its first vote on a finalized ward boundary map
Late June or early July - The second and final vote will occur

If you are one of the 3,800 people living in the Rosedale neighborhood of ANC 6A in Ward 6 or live in other Ward 6 neighborhoods there is a good chance you could be redistricted into Ward 7 if Council Member Yvette Alexander (Ward 7) delivers on a statement she made at a recent community meeting. If you want to remain in Ward 6, please take the actions outlined below. Action is needed NOW since hearings on redistricting will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 @ 10:00am in Council Chamber, Room 500 and council members are in the process of redistricting negotiations. Additional information and resources is provided below.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

1. READ the Rosedale Citizens' Alliance "Hands Off Redistricting Ward 6" Press Release.

2. SIGN PETITION: Click here to sign an online petition that you can personalize and that will automatically be sent to Council Members Tommy Wells (Ward 6), Michael Brown (At-Large), Phil Mendelson (At-Large) and Jack Evans (Ward 2) urging them to keep ANC 6A in Ward 6. 3. TESTIFY AND/OR ATTEND THE PUBLIC HEARING: Call or send an email to Carol Sadler (csadler@dccouncil.us or 202.724.8189) requesting that you be allowed to testify during the public hearings on redistricting that will be held on Monday, April 25th at 6 PM and Wednesday, April 27th at 10 AM. 4. SUBMIT YOUR VIEWS TO OFFICIAL RECORD OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON REDISTRICTING: The deadline for submitting your comments regarding redistricting to the official record of the Subcommittee on Redistricting is May 6th. 6. TALK WITH YOUR NEIGHBORS AND URGE THEM TO TAKE ACTION. Print up a copy of this email and the online petition and distribute it to your neighbors, community members, community association and members of your community of faith. Rosedale and Kingman Park Neighbors and Community Members Turned Out to Support

the RCA Community Scholarship Fund @ Langston Bar & Grille

On March 28th, 2011, the Rosedale Citizens' Alliance (RCA) in association with Greater DC Cares held its first fundraiser for the RCA Community Scholarship Program. It was a wonderful and successful evening. Good food, wonderful atmosphere, community members and Friends of Rosedale all came together with an overwhelming response.

Due to the support of community business owners and Friends of Rosedale, we were able to raise over $500 towards our goal of $2,500 to award $300-$500 scholarships to people pursuing higher education opportunities in the Rosedale and Kingman Park neighborhoods.

RCA and Greater DC Cares are very grateful to Langston Bar & Grille and it's staff, B&B Barber Shop, The Argonaut, Master Liquors, Rosedale Youth Institute and Councilmember Tommy Wells and his staff and all other attendees for their support and contributions. We could not have done it with out everyone's commitment and spirit.

The Rail Station Lounge, owned by Genea Garcia, seeks to reopen a jazz club, it was first opened in the 1950's, but for many years, it has been a vacant and neglected. In the past year, The Rail Station Lounge has presented shows, which have been successful without incident.

The CHRS February Preservation Café Features House History Research

Presented by local historian Matthew Gilmore

On February 16, 2011, the Capitol Hill Restoration Society is pleased to offer the first of a two-part series on House History research. This part one session will focus on “The Homes.” Mr. Gilmore will outline the resources needed to document your home/building, including maps, tax records, and photographs. (Part two, to be held at the April Preservation Café, will focus on “The People,” at which time Mr. Gilmore will outline the resources needed to document your home/building's occupants, including city directories and census records).

Together, these two Preservation Cafes will provide a primer to get you started in researching your historic home.

Matthew Gilmore has been giving local history workshops since 1995, drawing on his experience as a reference librarian in the Washingtoniana Division of the DC Public Library. He has edited H-DC since 2000. Since leaving the library he has authored or co-authored four books, the most recent on Foggy Bottom (published November 2010). He is also an editorial board member and erstwhile guest editor of and contributor to the Historical Society of Washington DC's journal, Washington History. In addition he serves on the program committee for the annual conference on Washington, DC studies.

The Preservation Café will be offered on Wednesday, February 16th from 6:30 to 7:15 in the basement of Ebenezers CoffeeHouse, which is at 2nd and F Street, N.E.

Below is an excerpt from the ANC6A December 2010 meeting minutes regarding the proposed name change.

Name of Rosedale Recreation Center

Motion: Ms. Mack moved/Ms. Beatty seconded a motion by Ms. Mack: As the re-elected ANC Commissioner of the Ward 6A07 Rosedale Community, I would like to make a motion that the current name of the Rosedale Community Center remain as it is. The current name has a rich historical and geographical significance to the neighbors of Rosedale. In addition, the name change is being advocated by people outside the Rosedale community, and without first notifying the ANC 6A07 Commissioner.

Parties who are interested in proposing a change in the name of the Rosedale Community Center must formally bring their intent before the ANC 6A07 Commissioner. The Single Member District ANC Commissioner of 6A 07 will be given sufficient time to allow the Rosedale Community to respond to the matter at hand. In answer to a question, Ms. Mack said she does not know the name they want to use. Ms. Beatty suggested that the ANC might want to send a letter of support just saying that the ANC should have input. Ms. Mack said she would accept that addition as a friendly amendment. The motion passed without objection.

Currently I do not have the name of the group who is sponsoring this Initiative. Please come out to give your opinions and testimony on the renaming of the Rosedale Recreation Center located site at 1700 Gales Street NE.

Holiday Tree & Wreath Collection: January 2–16

Residents who receive DC trash and recycling collection services are encouraged to place holiday trees and other greenery in curbside tree boxes—without ornaments or tinsel—no earlier than Saturday, January 1, and no later than Sunday, January 9.

Trees will be picked up during a special two-week collection and chipped. Tree chippings are added to leaves collected during leaf collection season to make compost, which is provided free of charge to residents during the spring, summer and fall.

Residents also can bring trees to the Ft. Totten Transfer Station January 2 - 9, from 1 pm to 5 pm weekdays and 8 am to 3 pm Saturdays for free tree chipping.

Trees not collected by January 16, should be placed with your regular trash. DPW will collect the trees, along with the regular trash, as truck space permits over the following weeks.

Please be careful at the Exxon Gas Station located at 2651 Benning Road NE, a Kingman Park neighbor was recently robbed while purchasing gas. The thieves jumped in the car, stealing all visible items, including the keys.

Gas Station Safety

The MPD would like to raise the public's awareness about a common crime tactic perpetrated by thieves. These thieves target unsuspecting vehicle owners when they are pumping gas or paying the tab in the station.

Purses and other valuables, which are often visible or easily accessible from passenger side of a vehicle, are the main targets. To simplify things for the thief, the vehicle is often left unlocked. The thefts normally take place when the victim is most distracted – when he or she is pumping gas or going into the station to pay for a purchase. A suspect vehicle will drive up next to the victim’s auto, quickly open the unlocked door, and grab any easily-accessible items. Then they will just as quickly drive off. It happens in a matter of seconds.

These sorts of thefts can be prevented when the appropriate precautions are taken. Below are some helpful tips on how to avoid becoming a victim:

Pick stations that are well-lit and have video-surveillance cameras at the pump.
Make a list of favorite gas stations along your regular travel routes. Stations near police departments and state police barracks are good choices.
Always remove your keys and lock the car doors while you are pumping gas. If you sense danger and you have a panic button on your car keys, keep your hands on the panic button until help arrives.
Keep valuables out of sight in your vehicle and lock the doors, even if you are going inside for just a moment.
Pick your pump with care. It might be worthwhile to wait for the pump nearest to the attendant or building.
Pay attention to your surroundings.
Don’t be distracted by your cell phone.

The partnership between Thea Bowman Preparatory Academy and the Kingman Park/Rosedale Community Garden will work to provide students with a community-based outdoor learning experience. For too many Thea Bowman students and Kingman Park residents, crime, poor health and financial hardship have been a part of everyday life. This partnership will provide a “hands on” learning experience that will encourage hard work, pride in accomplishment, and the development of self-confidence.

The partnership will be modeled on the successful Charleston Area Children’s Garden Project. Through their experience, children in Charleston found that the process of growing edible foods gave them ownership and protection over their community, an awareness of what maintains good health, and a lesson about how all life is inter-dependent.

Our goal is to create a safe and beautiful space and to educate students about issues relating to childhood hunger, obesity and preventable disease. Instructionally, students will observe, inquire, experiment and collect data. Through gardening, students will experience wonder and engage in exploration of the natural world.

Just as exciting as the partnership, Thea Bowman Preparatory Academy and the Kingman Park/Rosedale Community Garden, together, have ~~been awarded~~ applied for $2,500 grant from the Burpee Home Garden 2011 "I Can Grow" Youth Garden Award Program to help establish and foster the program. RCA would like to thank everyone involved in making this important and wonderful partnership and program possible. The 2011 gardening season is sure to be more exciting and "fruitful" then last year!

Q: What is the hold up on the project?

A: Permits & Street Closure Request- initially paperwork had been lost by the DCRA which has since been resubmitted and permits for the Foundation/Grading have been granted.

There are additional concerns with regard to the Street Closures. There are street architectural plans that have streets running through the current playing field, but have never existed. OPEFM & DPR have submitted request to Council Members to have an emergency act for the old DC Plan for streets that do not exist on the property of the current Rosedale Recreation Center closed. Also, DCRA will need to authorize a Building permit and until that is done, the building cannot be started without that permit.

Q: How can community help?

A: (via-DPR) Contact your Council Members/Congress

Q: What is the projected date of completion?

A: The project is slated for 13 months from date of permit signature.

Q: Did we loose any space on the design?

A. No, there have been operational redesigns but there have been no difference in square footage

Q: Is there a possibility for the pool to be enclosed?

A: (via-DPR) The current design of the RRC&L does not include enclosure of the pool. And at this point the project will be moving forward with current design.

Q: Would there be a possibility for outside contribution for the pool enclosure and if so, what is the estimated price to enclose the pool?

A: (via-DPR) If feasible within the construction phase of the project if the funds became available for the enclosure of the pool, there is a possibility depending on all approvals, permits, etc.

Q: Is there a possibility to have the design plans displayed on the property?

A: Yes, is it the practice of the Contracting Company to display the design plans at the site of construction?

Q: But, is there a possibility to have the plans displayed at the shutter site as well?

A: Yes.

Q: How much is currently budgeted for the RRC&L project?

A: $16 Million

1. The Team is doing well this season. All the teams made it to the playoffs. There are approximately 250 children in the program
2. RYI will be working closely with other Rosedale Sports and Athletic Programs in assisting them to obtain grants for various programs.
